November 21, 2016

Well, this week was pretty fun, but pretty much exactly the same as last week finding wise.
We had a few good experiences as we now shift our focus to: much, much, much more member work. We have been stopping by a few members everyday and sharing a little message with them and then asking if they know anybody that we can teach, or if any of their friends are interested. We have a big push in the ward right now to be more missionary minded. So that is progress. I don't have a lot of things to report though. But I will share what I found in my studies this week.

It is in Alma 37:44-46. It says:
44 For behold, it is as easy to give heed to the work of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss, as it was for our fathers to give heed to this compass, which would point unto them a straight course to the promised land.

45 And now I say, is there not a type in this thing? For just as surely as this director did bring our fathers, by following its course, to the promised land, shall the words of Christ, if we follow their course, carry us beyond this vale of sorrow into a far better land of promise.

46 O my son, do not let us be slothful because of the easiness of the way; for so was it with our fathers; for so was it prepare for them, that if they would look they might live; even so it is with us.  The way is prepared, if we will look we may live forever.

I thought this was really interesting. Alma is talking to his son about the Liahona. And then he compares it to the Word of Christ, which is the Gospel. And it struck me how unbelievably simple it is. Literally all we have to do is look, just the same as with the children of Israel with Moses in the wilderness. They just had to look and live. But they said it was too easy. Salvation cannot be that easy. And I think that is a human thing; To overcomplicate things. To make things more difficult than they really are.

We think it has to be some grand event when in reality; we just have to have faith that the Savior can heal us and help us, and then follow the Gospel. It is the most simple thing we can ever be asked to do. It may not be easy, it may be the most difficult thing you have ever done in your life, but it is simple. Christ knows us, He loves us, He died for us. And this is all that he asks. To look, to behold and believe, and to live His commandments and love Him.

Christ will indeed carry us beyond any vale of sorrow we can encounter. And he will carry us to a far better land than we have ever dreamed. Eternal bliss is indeed ours if we but endure to the end.
Love you all!
